So, it's now officially 2018 (Happy New Year to one and all) and just to kick-start the blog I'm going to post a few quick pictures of some of the Christmas Cards I made and sent this (last) year.
Using a DL card base, I used a Kaisercraft text stamp and then various dies to make the legs/feet/hat/feather - for example, I used an old Quickutz die which was originally intended to be the shaft of a hammer for the legs, a Quickutz boot die for the curly-toed shoes (cut down) and a Sizzix Sizzlits diamond shaped die for the hat - cut in half.
I also started off by hand-cutting my own feather for the hat, but then I found a Quickutz hat die on eBay which had a feather as part of the design, so I bought that cheaply and made a couple of dozen cards like this one.
All put together really simply, but I was sick of making this card by the time I'd finished, so I doubt if it will make an appearance again - certainly not in this same format anyway.
I did sell a few of these at work though, so it wasn't all in vain - and from the limited feedback one gets from cards that are sent at Christmas, I think they were well received.
I always put a decent quality paper insert inside my cards, but almost always leave them blank (I used to print inserts, but I'm a little OCD with things being central, and I really haven't got the time these days to faff about getting everything lined up. I might stamp a sentiment inside on a (very) odd occasion, but in reality, that hardly ever happens.
Here's another one made with a Memory Box die - grand Merry Christmas - and finished off with a reindeer from My Favorite Things (merry everything set) coloured with Copic Ciao Markers and embellished with glitter glue:
.
This next one is a simple one from a Stamping Bella gingerbread house stamp, again coloured with Copics and raised up on a foam layer cut with the same Stamping Bella Die. Glitter glue and Glossy Accents to the rescue again to make it that little bit more Christmassy:
And the final one I'll share tonight (as it's now approaching 1am!) is a simple die cut Christmas Pudding - I'm not even sure what make it is (might be X-cut) as I bought it a couple of years ago and never used it at the time finished off with Clearly Besotted die cut sentiment:
Hopefully I'll be back soon as I'm ready to join in with some crafty challenges and see if I can leave my comfort zone at least once or twice!
Nothing overly complicated (although I was happy with them) and certainly not the best of photographs (I hope to have a better set up for photos in my new craft area).
First (and my favourite card as my daughter is a huge Elf (the movie) fan) was this one...
